Frequently asked questions
What is a heritage turkey?
Heritage turkeys are traditional breeds that grow more slowly and naturally than commercial broad-breasted turkeys. They can walk, forage, and reproduce naturally. We raise Narragansett and Bourbon Red turkeys, both known for rich flavor and beautiful, distinctive plumage.
How large will my turkey be?
Most of our dressed heritage turkeys are expected to fall within the 12–19 lb range. Because they grow naturally, exact finished weights cannot be guaranteed. We will do our best to match your requested range, and choosing “Any size” gives us the most flexibility.
How are the turkeys raised and what do they eat?
Our turkeys are pasture-raised at our farm in Belmont. They spend their days outdoors foraging for grasses, seeds, and insects, while also receiving a balanced poultry feed and fresh water to support healthy growth.
Who is Rooted Ridge Farm?
We are a family-run farm in Belmont, New Hampshire. Our family raises heritage poultry and other livestock with an emphasis on good stewardship, outdoor access, and knowing where our food comes from.
How does the reservation work?
Submit the reservation form and send the $25-per-bird deposit through Venmo. Your turkey is reserved once the deposit is received. The deposit is applied to your final balance, which is calculated from the dressed weight at $7.99 per pound.
When and where is pickup?
Pickup is available from 2:00–4:00 PM on Saturday, November 21, or Sunday, November 22, in Belmont, New Hampshire. The exact address will be included with your reservation confirmation.
